Sea to Sky Expeditions Offers New Tour in Canada’s Yukon Territory

A sampling of the best of the Yukon: camping by majestic mountains, outdoor activities in rustic cabins and exploring the North’s historic areas.

Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada (PRWEB) March 5, 2007 -- Sea to Sky Expeditions’ newest tour for the 2007 season samples some of the best that the Yukon has to offer. Combining hotels, rustic cabins, and tenting, we will travel a corridor that delivers scenery, history and serenity. This trip is an ideal vehicle for photographers, history buffs, or people who have long had the urge to visit Canada’s great north. Travel along the route will be in a comfortable and private 15 passenger van, and an August departure date presents excellent weather and few bugs.

Who hasn't imagined a secluded log cabin, nestled by a lake, in a true wilderness setting? Brush up against the solemnity of the Yukon as our tour begins with a three day stay at a rustic cabin on Lake Laberge. This is the perfect location to do some fishing, canoeing, hiking or photography – or perhaps just sitting back and relaxing, basking in newfound spirits that come from “getting away from it all.”

After this rejuvenating introduction to the Yukon, we move on to explore the treasures of the North. One of the tour highlights includes a boat tour to Fort Selkirk on the Yukon River. Restored buildings carry testament to the Fort’s one-time role as a Hudson Bay trading post and community, established to supply sternwheelers and local settlers.

We will also camp in the shadow of the Tombstone Range -- often referred to as the Patagonia of the North -- and visit Dawson City, centre of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-98. Visitors will long remember Dawson City for the city’s period entertainment and restored historical buildings.

One visit to the Yukon and participants will be parroting the words of the great northern bard, Robert Service, "There's some as would trade it for no land on earth -- and I'm one!"
