Smoking on a Fast Eddy's by Cookshack smoker, Randy Pauly's Hot Knots team carried off the Grand Championship trophy at the Houston Livestock Show World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest in Houston, TX, February 22 - 24, 2007.

Prevailing over 400+ teams, Randy Pauly's Hot Knots Cooking Team went home as the Grand Champion of the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at the Houston Livestock Show, February 22 - 24, 2007. Smoking on straight-out-of-the-box Fast Eddy's by Cookshack smokers, the team consisting of Randy Pauly, Mike Thompson, Tim Butler, and Bill Millroy had never even fired up an FEC before, but were still able to get the results needed to win it all.

"We were going blind with it, but the FEC's turned out a beautiful product. The main benefit of using an FEC in competition is the not having to baby-sit it. I watched it the first 4 hours to see what the degree difference would be. It never went more than 2 degrees above or below what we set it at, which I was very impressed with.

It's awesome that I can put in product and get consistent turn-out every time. With an offset, there is a big window where that product quality can fall, but with the FEC it's consistent.

We were very pleased with the results, and we were really excited about our win. Now we're heading to the Jack with 2 FEC100's. The chance to go to the Jack is one of the major reasons we were gunning for this win. There is no better victory than one that gives you the opportunity to cook at the Jack," Said Pauly

Ninth place went to Red Ritch and his Ritch's Raiders team, cooking on two Fast Eddy's by Cookshack FEC750's.

Three Current World Champions Have Attended Fast Eddy's Cooking Class

Both Pauly and Ritch attended the Fast Eddy's Championship Cooking Class in November, 2006.

Says Pauly, "the class helped us considerably; I was impressed by the whole class. I know Fast Eddy and Paul (Schatte) very well from the circuit, and on a competitors side, it was nice that they weren't sitting there making something up, it was what they actually do. They taught with simplicity, and it was the honest truth they were giving out."

Scott Johnson, whose team took Grand Champion at the 2006 Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue, is a graduate of the first Fast Eddy's Class, as is Robert Waddell of the Habitual Smokers team that carried away the big trophy at the 2006 American Royal Open.
