Celebrity attendees of the NAACP Image Awards didn't expect to spend their night getting cooking tips from Chef Don Curtiss, of the internationally acclaimed Volterra restaurant. But that is exactly what many of them did at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on March 2, 2007. Curtiss, along with his wife and Volterra's managing partner Michelle Quisenberry, spiced up the night by cooking Organic American Wagyu Kobe Beef Tenderloin--graciously supplied by Select Gourmet Foods and Kobe Beef America--seasoned with Curtiss's signature seasoning salts Volterra Fennel Salt and Porcini Salt.
The boldly flavored Fennel Salt--inspired by Curtiss' travels throughout Italy--has already become wildly popular with celebrities.
"I can't wait to get home and try these out!" was the quote repeated throughout the event. Celebrities spent time with Chef Don Curtiss asking for tips on how to use the salts and sharing their favorite recipes with him. "I was amazed at how many of the celebrities were incredibly passionate about cooking. I am thrilled to have our Fennel salt and Porcini salt in such prestigious kitchens," said Curtiss.
Host LL Cool J, award winners Jennifer Hudson, Chandra Wilson and Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy), India Arie, Vanessa Williams, Hil Harper, Raven Simone, Kimberly Elise, Ken Whittingham along with Smokey Robinson, Kerry Washington, Tawny Cyprus, Ana Oritz, Tony Plana and Keke Palmer were among those to receive the Volterra seasonings.
"Attending the NAACP Image Awards was an incredible opportunity to meet and greet Hollywood's best," said Quisenberry. "The energy throughout the event from the dress rehearsal on Thursday until the award ceremony on Friday was incredible. The celebrities were extremely gracious and truly interested in our product. It was an unforgettable experience."
