Emergency Film Group (http://www.efilmgroup.com), a leading and award-winning provider of video-based training on hazardous materials and terrorism emergency response, has selected Digital Rights Director (DRD) for web based distribution of its training materials.
Digital Rights Director provides an online media distribution platform that enables content owners to sell digital audio and video from their own online stores and in a format that uses Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology to prevent digital piracy.
Emergency Film Group has produced and distributed award-winning training films, DVDs and videos of interest to the hazardous materials, counterterrorism, environmental and emergency response communities in both the public and the private sectors, since 1987.
Emergency Film Group made the decision to provide the online streaming option after receiving a number of requests from customers. "This is very exciting, because before this, only organizations could afford to acquire this training," said Gordon Massingham, President of Emergency Film Group. "But now, because of this cutting edge technology, anyone can get very reasonably-priced access to these programs by exceptionally high quality downloads."
Using Digital Rights Director's Online Media Store, Emergency Film Group is able to create "media rules" they can assign to their training videos. The media rules determine exactly how the media can be used. For example, there could be a media rule that allows only a single play, and another rule for ten plays, and yet another rule for unlimited plays. The rules can disable or limit not only the number of plays, but when the file can be played, whether the file can be copied, backed up, shared, or transferred to an approved device, and much more.
Upon uploading the media to the online store, the file is packaged with DRM, and Emergency Film Group is able to assign any combination of rules with any prices they desire to that media file. In addition, Emergency Film Group can attach an additional file, such as a training manual or presentation that can also be delivered when someone orders the media.
The beauty of the Digital Rights Director system is that in order to play the file, a user must purchase a license - even if the file was provided by an individual with a valid license. If someone who has not purchased a license attempts to play the file, they are redirected back to Emergency Film Group's online store where they can purchase that specific piece of media.
"We are extremely happy that leading companies such as Emergency Film Group, the top provider of online hazardous materials and terrorism emergency response training for 20 years, recognizes the value of our media distribution platform," says Jonathan Castleman, Digital Rights Director's President.
"In addition to eliminating the costs of duplication, artwork, shipping & returns, Digital Rights Director also provides several built-in self-promotion tools and enables our clients to significantly expand their market share, especially internationally, with the ability to offer immediate availability of the media and multiple purchase options," Castleman added.
