Orthogroup Inc. Announces New Paralign Orthopedic Broach Handle for Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement Surgery

Orthogroup announced the release of a new product for anterior approach surgical hip replacement. This product represents a first for the industry where conventional broach handles have not yet been specifically designed for minimally invasive procedures.

I'm very excited about the simplicity, low cost, and cleanability of the ParalignTM Anterior Broach Handle," says John Ungaro, President/COO of Orthogroup, Inc. "Using a sophisticated rapid prototyping process, we developed a multitude of shapes and configurations until the surgeons said that we had it right."

The ParalignTM Anterior Broach Handle is designed specifically for the anterior approach and employs a three-dimensional shape to provide optimal visual and surgical access. It also has a unique patent pending locking system that assists in the procedure.

"Feedback from orthopedic surgeons has been extremely positive and they are very impressed with the ParalignTM Anterior Broach Handle because surgical and visual access is greatly improved," continues Ungaro. "We have also been told that the new shape of our product avoids soft tissue impingement which commonly occurs when using the conventional handle design."

The ParalignTM Anterior Broach Handle is currently designed to fit all major implant systems.
