Each month, the MTS/BlogHer Consumer Campaign identifies sustainable products that substantially reduce climate change pollution. The Campaign is one of MTS’ initiatives to stop in the next 5-10 years, irreversible dangerous climate change causing global collapse.

MTS announced today that it will partner with BlogHer LLC, promoting sustainable products across the BlogHer Advertising Network of influential women bloggers. This campaign will reach over 5 million consumers and promotes the best products for the environment, economy and social equity.

"Women represent more than half of online users and influence over 80% of consumer product purchases. Reaching women online is reaching the power consumer", says Jory Des Jardins, BlogHer Co-founder and President of Business Development and Alliances, "As women online increasingly talk about the environment and eco-consciousness, the power of the purse also represents the power to make a difference, and BlogHer is proud to be part of such an effort."

BlogHer, the Web's number one guide to blogs by women, creates opportunities for women bloggers to pursue exposure, education, community and economic empowerment.

Companies with sustainable products are identified by MTS using its consensus sustainable product standards. “Standards are the best way to identify sustainable products,” says Mike Italiano, MTS President and CEO, “especially since you must consider the product’s entire life over the global supply chain, the complexity of climate and other pollution reductions, plus social equity compliance.”

The campaign fits in very well with MTS’ capital markets initiative and two recent complementary announcements:

  • MTS Member Philips announced it will stop making incandescent light bulbs and only make energy efficient lamps.

  • Australia will require all incandescent bulbs to be replaced by fluorescent by 2008 to save energy and reduce climate pollution.

MTS is a nonprofit public charity of leading environmental groups, companies, and governments with a goal to achieve 90% sustainable products market penetration by 2015. MTS programs greatly contributed to the 75% sustainable products growth rate over the past five years.
