The Keating--the premier luxury boutique hotel and the world's first hotel designed by Italian powerhouse Pininfarina--has opened its doors and has already redefined the urban boutique hotel lifestyle in San Diego. World-renowned for their sophisticated design of automotive zeniths Ferrari and Maserati, Pininfarina has lent its signature pure, clean, ergonomic design elements to the historic building which houses the intimate 35-room Keating hotel, located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. Envisioned and developed by local real-estate entrepreneur Edward Kaen, The Keating marks a significant milestone for both Pininfarina as well as for San Diego's ascent among the ranks of true metropolitan destinations.

An ultimate showcase for design "firsts," the significance of The Keating's hotly-anticipated emergence into the San Diego market is further punctuated by pioneering partnerships with such celebrated names as Jacuzzi®, Bang and Olufsen, Dornbracht, LavAzza and Frette--creating a luxury experience that was previously unavailable. The 35 Stanzas (Italian for guestroom) and suites have been conceived without interior walls to create a new interpretation of space, taking away the traditional division of the warm and wet zones (defined by Pininfarina as the bedroom and bathroom).

"The Keating represents everything that San Diego is evolving into," said Kaen. "It combines historical significance with modern design appeal and premier service in a welcoming, urban setting that underscores how vibrant and exciting this city has become. We are incredibly proud to debut such a unique hotel concept here."

The Keating's intimate size provides a unique environment where one-on-one, thoughtful, personalized service is paramount. Every conceivable guest need is anticipated and fulfilled, while an always on-call lifestyle concierge is available at a moment's notice to respond to any request.

Exceptional amenities include personalized in-room check-in, in-room spa services, goose down duvet and feather beds, sumptuous Egyptian cotton linens, a wall-mounted High Definition plasma television and entertainment center experience by Bang and Olufsen, in-room professional LavAzza espresso machines, a customized sip & crave selection bar, plush designer bath robes and complimentary high speed WiFi Internet access.

Inspired by the intricate façade of the historic building they've chosen to update, Pininfarina's vision for the property strives to create an unpredicted juxtaposition of the traditional and modern, enticing guests to experience innovative design ideas and luxury at every turn. The signature red color palette of The Keating is found in all aspects of the space, reflecting the vibrancy of San Diego's thriving urban core. While snapshots of the building's heritage can be seen in abundant exposed brick, Pininfarina focused on sky blue hues in the bathrooms and rich, custom-designed mahogany furniture and stainless steel accents in each Stanza to create a colorful, yet warm contrast for the unique hotel.

Situated in a premium location at the corner of 5th Avenue and F Street, The Keating is centrally positioned in the hub of the Gaslamp Quarter and within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center, major corporate offices and many restaurants and nightclubs--from the quaint and casual to the sophisticated and chic.
