Literacy Education Start-up Wins Big MaestroReading.com Hits the Ground Running Start with Wins in National and International Business Plan Competitions

MaestroReading.com (http://www.maestroreading.com), a New Literacy education technology start-up, is off to a promising start with successes in national and international business plan competitions.

Montreal, QC, Canada (PRWEB) March 13, 2007 -- 2006 - Presented by founder Danny Iny, the business competed in the Business Development Bank's (BDC) Enterprize 2007 competition, and in the Queen's Entrepreurs' Competition (QEC) 2007. On January 20th, the business won the $15,000 first prize for the Quebec region of Enterprize, and was named a national finalist in the follow-up competition held a month later in Vancouver. On March 3rd the business won 3rd place at QEC, over teams from Australia, Belgium and Singapore, as well as Canada.

Some studies show that over 40% of elementary school students in the U.S. are reading below grade-level by the end of the third grade. MaestroReading.com (http://www.maestroreading.com), a literacy education internet portal, is meant to help address this problem; the solutions are geared for elementary school-aged children (grades 1 through 6), and can be used as part of a regular reading curriculum, and as remediation for children reading below grade-level, and children with reading disabilities like dyslexia. Solutions include a storybook about Leonardo da Vinci for practicing fluency, and a set of Learning Tools, which help children practice discrete elements of the reading process, like letter and word recognition, phonic analysis and syllabication.

The solution is primarily geared for use in schools, and is priced very attractively for that market, but it is also a good fit for remediation and English as a Second Language (ESL) institutions. There will also be a specialized version tailored for use by children at home. The future looks bright for MaestroReading.com. They are nearing the end of development cycle, and are ready to begin beta-testing with interested schools. At the same time, they are looking for investors interested in turning a profit while contributing to literacy education.
