Best Management Practices for the Landscape Online Course with Green Industries Institute

Green Industries Institute is privileged to provide an online adaptation of the Best Management Practices for the Landscape program developed by the University of Florida, IFAS. The course provides landscape professionals with methodologies to protect and conserve the natural water resources in Florida. Tuition for the Best Management Practices for the Landscape course is sponsored by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection through December 31, 2007.

Florida (PRWEB) March 13, 2007 -- Green Industries Institute is privileged to provide an online adaptation of the Best Management Practices for the Landscape program developed by the University of Florida, IFAS. The course provides landscape professionals with methodologies to protect and conserve the natural water resources in Florida.

Based on scientific data, the course provides guidelines for appropriate water use in everyday landscape practices, an understanding of irrigation, fertilizer, and pest management practices to reduce pollution and water use, as well as mechanisms to enhance employee and client awareness of the necessity for protection of water resources and environmental sensitivities.

This course is recognized by FDACS for Florida Pesticide License renewal, FNGLA, LMA and PLANET professional associations toward certification renewal, each with four professional development hours. It is also the online version of the official landscape BMP program recognized by DEP in the state of Florida.

Tuition for the Best Management Practices for the Landscape course is sponsored by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection through December 31, 2007.

The Best Management Practices for the Landscape program was collaboratively authored by University of Florida - IFAS, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Southwest Florida Water Management District, TrueGreen ChemLawn, and Middleton Pest Control. We especially appreciate the contributions of Ron Cohen, SWFWMD; Pam Mattis, UF/IFAS Duval County Extension; Dave Palmer, UF/IFAS Hillsborough County Extension; Erica Santella, TruGreen/ChemLawn; Dr. Jerry Sartain, UF/IFAS; Dr. Mike Thomas, FDEP; Dr. Laurie Trenholm, UF/IFAS; Joe Welsh, Middleton Pest Control; and Celeste White, UF/IFAS Orange County Extension.
