2007 Schaumburg Flyers High School Baseball Classic presented by Easton

The 7th Annual Schaumburg Flyers High School Baseball Classic presented by Easton is scheduled to take place April 5-7 at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Illinois. The Northern League Schaumburg Flyers, a ninth-year professional baseball club will once again provide Alexian Field for the three day event. The Flyers Classic will showcase eight high school programs from the state of Illinois.

Algonquin, IL (PRWEB) March 12, 2007 -- Co-host Schaumburg High School is scheduled to open the Flyers Classic with a game against Grayslake Central at 4:30 PM on Thursday afternoon. The Saxons are led by led by Duke bound Grant Monroe, a senior RHP and junior catcher Dominick D'Agata while the #12 ranked Rams are led by a pair of Parkland recruits, Gerry Martinez, a senior RHP and Steve Kuligowski, a senior LHP. St. Charles North will take on the pre season #1 ranked team in the state by the Truth Prep Baseball Report, St. Rita on Thursday evening in Game 2 of the opening twin bill. The #5 ranked North Stars are led by St. Louis University-bound Michael Corrigan, a senior catcher and Michigan State-bound Jeff Holm, a senior outfielder. The #1 ranked Mustangs are led by three solid frontline starters, senior RHP Chris Chonjnowski, 6'8" football signee at the University of Virginia LHP Matt Conrath, and junior RHP Tony Zych. The Mustangs also boast the top defensive 3rd baseman in the state with Eastern Illinois-bound Sean Estand, a senior. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.

Another doubleheader is slated for Friday. Co-host H.D. Jacobs will take on highly regarded Mount Carmel in the afternoon game at 3:00 PM. The Golden Eagles feature senior outfielder, Jeremy Camacho, a signee at the College of DuPage. The #10 ranked Caravan are lead by Iowa-bound Tony Manville, a senior RHP and Northern Illinois-bound Tom Zelasko, a senior LHP. The field is rounded out by Lake Zurich & highly ranked Clemente. Those two schools will meet on Friday night at 5:30 PM. The Bears are led by United States Military Academy at West Point (Army) recruit Kirk Porter, a senior RHP and junior standout 2nd baseman/RHP Joey DeBernardis. Clemente is led by a pair of UIC recruits Rafael Garcia, a senior shortstop and Devin Melecio, a senior outfielder. Clemente also features another D1 recruit in Northern Illinois-bound Marvin Sanchez, a senior 2nd baseman.

An action packed day of baseball will conclude the tournament on Saturday. Consolation games will occur simultaneously at H.D. Jacobs High School and St. Charles North High School, beginning at 11:00 AM. Alexian Field and Schaumburg High School will conduct semifinal bracket games also at 11:00 AM. At 2:00 PM, the 5th place game will be played at Alexian Field while the 3rd place game unfolds at Schaumburg High. The tournament championship game will take place at 5:30 PM on Saturday at Alexian Field.
