Software developer timeXtender Inc. announced today from the Gartner Business Intelligence Summit that it's customer, The Kruuse Group, a global leader in veterinary supplies, reports increased sales and decreased costs with the addition of timeXtender® 2.0 and Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005 to its Oracle-based business intelligence system.

"The timeXtender and SQL Solution has completely changed the way we use business intelligence at Kruuse," says Morten Spangaard, IT Manager for The Kruuse Group. "It's now the basis of better decision making, more targeted sales contacts, and even new marketing programs."

Serving as a front-end business intelligence application for Microsoft SQL Server 2005, timeXtender 2.0 eases and expedites the process of creating and maintaining data cubes, enabling non-technical users to extract, transform, and load data; to cleanse data errors to improve the quality of the data; to generate online analysis processing cubes with various types of dimensions; and to create data warehouses with multiple data marts.

After rejecting two cost-prohibitive enterprise business intelligence solutions, Kruuse was attracted to timeXtender's promise of 'from source to cube in no time' because the company's Information Technology team--a staff of five for a company with 250 employees--lacked the time to create and maintain more than one data cube.

"Using timeXtender 2.0 and Microsoft SQL 2005 we now host five data cubes instead of one and 30 standard reports instead of three," says Spangaard. "Customizations that took two weeks are now implemented whenever needed."

Kruuse, which has been in operation for 100 years, credits its more powerful use of business intelligence to the greater speed and ease with which its business professionals can now implement business intelligence using timeXtender 2.0.

"With timeXtender's technology, you don't need to be a programmer to use the business intelligence solution," says Spangaard. "You don't need to know coding. This is business intelligence for everyone."

In place of one IT professional working full time to deliver customizations that took two weeks, nearly half the Kruuse staff can now create and access a custom report whenever they wish. The standard reports available to Kruuse employees--just three under the old solution--now number 30. The IT staffer responsible for business intelligence now dedicates 75 percent of his time to more productive and strategic functions.

According to Spangaard, the benefits of timeXtender's time savings and ease-of-use started immediately with the installation.

"The original project scope was to recreate our data cube of revenue information in the more flexible and accessible timeXtender 2.0 and SQL Server technology," says Spangaard. "That process, for which we allowed 20 days, was completed in three days, enabling us to use the time to create additional cubes for shipping and packaging costs, warehouse management, delivery performance, vendor performance and sales personnel performance."

Today, Kruuse is implementing business intelligence in highly productive and profitable ways.

"Sales force territory managers now start every business day with a report on that day's sales visits--and what the customers they're visiting are buying and not buying, letting them zero in on how best to increase sales to those customers," says Spangaard. "Now we can evaluate the performance of sales staff and vendors more closely, quickly, and accurately than ever before."
