Fast-growth strategist, Doug Davidoff, has been speaking to CEO groups all around the country about the dangers of commoditization and how to avoid them. Davidoff, the founder and CEO of Imagine Business Development and creator of Third Wave Selling, has produced an audio CD of the popular presentation as a result of requests from attendees at his speaking engagements. The CD is available on the "Knowledge Products" section of Imagine's site: http://www.imaginellc.com
To define Commoditization: it is the systemic process whereby customers remove or ignore differences between offerings, reducing them to their lowest common denominator - typically price. Commoditization was reintroduced into the business lexicon by New York Times columnist and author, Thomas Freidman, in his book, "The Lexus And The Olive Tree". It is also further discussed in Freidman's best-seller, "The World Is Flat."
Davidoff has become a leading voice about the dangers of Commoditization through his frequent discussions of it in the popular Fast Growth Blog (http://www.thefastgrowthblog.com).
On the CD, Davidoff exhorts the audience of CEOs to review all aspects of their business development process to make sure those systems create value for customers and instead of unwittingly "commoditizing" what they are selling.
