Detroit, Michigan (PRWEB) March 19, 2007
The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) releases a report regarding residential building clothes dryer fires. Between the years 2002-2004, an annual average of 12,700 clothes dryer fires occurred in residential buildings. These fires were responsible for an estimated 15 civilian fire deaths, 300 civilian fire injuries, and $88 million in property loss each year. The franchise Dryer Vent Wizard is dedicated to making homes safe as well as maintaining 100% customer satisfaction.
There are several possible causes of dryer vent fires. Lack of maintenance is a contributing factor. Busy homeowners aren't cleaning lint screens as often as they should, nor are they inspecting or cleaning vent systems on an annual basis. Reduced airflow resulting from lint buildup in the vent system or other areas around the dryer can cause the appliance to perform poorly, operate at elevated temperatures and possibly overheat.
Problems can also occur if consumers place improper items in their dryers, such as foam backed rugs, athletics shoes, or vent their appliances with plastic, vinyl or aluminum foil exhaust materials.
According to Dave Lavalle, Founder and CEO of Dryer Vent Wizard, "It's no accident that we've experienced such rapid franchise growth in 2006. Homeowners are becoming more aware of the dangers of clothes dryer fires and are eager to make their homes safer. Our company mission is to reduce the number of dryer fires throughout North America, keeping families safe one home at a time."
