In a move to increase traffic to a selected group of video websites, EVTV1 and its parent company, NextEra Media, announced the creation of the Video Traffic Exchange™ (VTE).

The VTE™ is a way for member sites to put links on their web pages and trade traffic amongst each other. EVTV1 CEO, Jaffer Ali explained, "This is a throwback to the way the Internet used to work. By cooperating with competitors, the rising tide lifts all boats. We are in soft beta launch and membership is by invitation only. We developed software that equilibrates traffic based upon the number of visitors that each site sends to other members."

Traffic is directed based upon the number of visitors each particular site contributes to the exchange. A database query determines which links are served on the various member websites, and only sites rich with video content are invited to participate. The beta launch consists of 25 websites with safe-for-work content because NextEra Media, the company managing the project, is not allowing adult websites into the exchange.

Some of the sites in VTE™ are: All Stuff, Bizarre News, Blastro, Chum Video, Clevver, Daily HaHa, Double Agent, EVTV1, FightZilla, Know It In A Minute, JamboTV, Pixsy, OVGuide, SingingFool, RoofTop Comedy, Pure Video.

NextEra Media has identified 800 select video websites to be part of the exchange and will be expanding the program to include 200 more sites upon roll out. Currently the VTE is serving 500,000 links per hour during the peak times of the day.

Rooftop Comedy CEO and VTE member, Will Rogers, stated, "The Video Traffic Exchange is a great way to increase traffic without spending money. We all "give" in order to "receive". What makes this fair is that everybody knows exactly how much traffic they will get because it depends exclusively on how much traffic we provide to the exchange. What's even better is that our traffic doesn't really leave our sites because the VTE opens a new browser window when a member link is clicked. All we do is put the code on the site and the VTE™ software does all the rest."

The Video Traffic Exchange™ was launched in beta on March 1st.
