Prominent Silicon Valley Business and Academic Leaders to Honor Technology's Women of Vision at Gala Awards Dinner

The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology will host its 2007 Women of Vision Awards dinner at San Jose's Fairmont Hotel to recognize and celebrate the cutting-edge work of three distinguished women and their contributions to the advancement of technology. Keynote speaker for the event is Esther Dyson, a renowned authority on emerging technology, who has been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the most powerful women in American business. CBS-5 Eyewitness News Early Edition Anchor Sydnie Kohara will serve as master of ceremonies. Winners will be announced in three award categories: Innovation, Leadership and Social Impact. The evening will also include a special tribute to the late Dr. Richard Newton, who was Dean of the School of Engineering at UC-Berkeley and a member of the ABI Board of Trustees.

The award finalists were selected from a large group of nominees of highly accomplished female technologists representing global corporations and academic institutions. The Awards Committee is comprised of the Anita Borg Institute Board of Trustees and includes Debi Coleman, Managing Partner, SmartForest Ventures, Telle Whitney, President and CEO, Anita Borg Institute, Cheryl Shavers, Former Undersecretary of Technology, Clinton Administration, & CEO of Global Smarts, Inc., Justin Rattner, Senior Fellow and CTO, Intel.

Numerous corporations, academic institutions and individuals who understand that in a highly competitive global marketplace, we need to increase the number of women working in technology, support the event.
