Ramon Shiloh Author and Illustrator of "Guidance Through an Illustrative Alphabet" debuts his 2nd masterpiece for up-coming book, "The Art of Comedy Collection" and showcase on Wednesday, April 4th at the Hollywood Improv at 8pm, Gallery Reception at 6pm (Tickets $13 - the Hollywood Improv is located at 8162 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046). A merging of the worlds of comedy with art, the display will include art pieces that express the personalities and characters of many well-known comedians. Each piece will be a surrealistic interpretive drawing with a story/poem of the name of each comedian.
The intent of this showing is not only to merge comedy with art, but also to expose the role comedians' play in our culture. Comedians have played a vital role in their attempts to revitalize humor through current, historic and tragic events. Through all forms of humor: light and dark, comedy reaches to the core by unmasking the truths society is thinking. There are many comedians who will be represented in this showing. Opening reception will include IMPROV founder and sponsor BUDD FRIEDMAN and various comedians represented in the exhibition. Comedians who will be represented in the showcase on display will be: Budd Friedman, Jay Leno, Jamie Foxx, Orny Adams, Todd Glass, Redd Foxx, Jay Mohr, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Ross, George Wallace, Sarah Silverman, Pablo Francisco, Lisa Lampanelli, Jeff Foxworthy, Damon Wayans, Drew Carey, Mitch Hedberg, Joe Rogan, Dave Attell, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock and more… Comedians performing that evening: Host: Dave Hanson ("Gamers" The Movie), Nick Thune (The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno), Suli McCullough ("Mouse" Jamie Foxx Show), Orny Adams (The Late Show with David Letterman, "Comedian" with Jerry Seinfeld), Jimmy Pardo ("Comedy Central Presents...Jimmy Pardo", National Lampoons "Funny Money") and Jeremy Hotz ("My Favorite Martian" and "Speed 2").
African-Native American Author/Illustrator Ramon Shiloh was born in Northern California. Highly influenced by his mother June Le Grand a Native Storyteller, Ramon draws his energy, spirit and enthusiasm from his art and poetry. Ramon Shiloh is very dedicated to supporting arts programs for young Native Americans and serves as a mentor for Native Voices at the Autry. Native Voices at the Autry is devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage by Native American playwrights. A portion of the sale of each "Art of Comedy Collection" piece sold during the April 4th showcase will be donated to the Native Voices at the Autry Program.
