VoicePort Goes Live with Honolulu Star-Bulletin

Honolulu Star-Bulletin, a Black Press Ltd. newspaper, launches VoicePort's circulation IVR, CircPort™, to speed circulation phone calls with speech recognition.

Pittsford, NY (PRWEB) March 28, 2007 -- Honolulu Star-Bulletin, a Black Press Ltd. newspaper, announces live traffic on VoicePort's voice-driven self-service hosted circulation Integrated Voice Response (IVR) application, CircPort OnDemand™. CircPort speeds circulation phone calls by using advanced speech recognition to understand and automatically process caller requests. With a daily circulation of over 65,000, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin is the oldest continuously published daily newspaper in Hawaii.

The newspaper is using the application to provide customers 24/7 access to their accounts to handle routine circulation phone calls such as placing vacation holds, checking account status, and reporting delivery problems. The application is directly integrated into the newspaper's MediaSpan CirculationPro database.

VoicePort was the first to offer a hosted IVR service to the newspaper industry, allowing customers to reduce capital outlay, while paying only for the actual usage. More than 40 of VoicePort's customers currently use CircPort OnDemand.

Additional phases of implementation will offer subscribers the opportunity to make payments to their account, sign up for Ez Pay, start a new subscription, or make address changes.

"CircPort OnDemand will help us remain committed to serving our subscribers better by reducing call hold times and increasing the level of customer service we provide to 24/7/365," said Joe Leong, Circulation Director at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

"The VoicePort solution will allow subscribers to reach the Honolulu Star-Bulletin whenever it is convenient for them," said Kevin Cawley, Director of North America sales for VoicePort. "Our speech automation applications are quickly becoming the preferred choice in the industry because they are easier to use than the touch-tone applications newspapers have used in the past."
