Trend Micro, Incorporated and the Midwestern Higher Education Compact have reached an agreement that provides institutions of the 11-member states significant discount on Trend Micro's award-winning antivirus and content security software and hardware appliances.

Minneapolis, MN March 27, 2007 - Trend Micro, Incorporated and the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC-pronounced meck) have reached an agreement that provides institutions of the 11-member states significant discount on Trend Micro's award-winning antivirus and content security software and hardware appliances. The agreement is the first of its kind between MHEC and an antivirus provider. The agreement allows institutions to purchase Trend Micro's full range of antivirus, anti-spam, anti-spyware and content security solutions, which can protect all aspects of an institution's IT network, servers and personal computers.

"MHEC continues to look for technology opportunities for MHEC institutions," said MHEC President Larry Isaak. "The agreement with Trend Micro is just one more way many institutions will realize cost savings in their states."

Through this agreement, MHEC institutions can purchase Trend Micro products at a significant discount beyond Trend Micro's normal academic pricing, and will provide an easier process for purchasing antivirus products.

"Trend Micro is extremely honored and excited to partner with MHEC," said Tom Miller, senior vice president of Trend Micro. "As one of the largest antivirus and content security providers in the industry today, we look forward to working with MHEC and the member colleges and universities, and helping protect the valuable assets of each institution," added Miller.

As more information becomes available, it will be found on MHEC's purchasing information site at http://www.mhectech.org.
