"When you consider that the Navy Leagues mission is to work with Congress to keep them informed of key issues regarding sea services and their needs - our role may be more critical now than ever before," states Gerald F. Corcoran.

The Broward County (FL) Council of the Navy League of the United States (NLUS) has elected Corcoran Associates' Managing Partner as its Vice President for Legislative Affairs. A retired U.S. Coast Guard Captain, Gerald F. "Jerry" Corcoran has been a member of the NLUS for 22 years. Previously, he held the position of National Director and Chairman of the Coast Guard Affairs Committee for 10 years. In his next role, he served as President of the Atlanta (GA) Metropolitan Council over a four years period.

"We are pleased that the Council has elected Jerry to this important position," states Kelly Isley, Partner with Corcoran Associates. "Our firm has been a long time supporter of the NLUS. To that end, we look forward to our collaborative efforts with this strong organization that continues to educate the American people on the importance of sea power."

As Vice President, Jerry will visit local and regional legislators, forward issues to NLUS leadership, and inform South Florida Navy League members of current issues affecting the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.

"This is a very challenging and exciting time for the Navy League, both at the national and grass roots level," Jerry remarks. "Today's Congress has many newly elected legislators, and its make-up continues the trend that includes a smaller number of members who have served in the military. When you consider that the (NLUS) mission is to work with Congress to keep them informed of key issues regarding sea services and their needs - our role may be more critical now than ever before."
