Orlando (PRWEB) April 3, 2007 -- Wi-Ex, the leader in consumer cell phone signal boosters, announced today that its zBoost zPersonal (zP), the personal zBoost, was selected as the 3rd place winner of the CTIA Emerging Technologies (E-Tech) Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2007 for the Hardware - Mobile Accessory category. Winners were announced today at an Award Ceremony at the Orange County Convention Center during the show.

The CTIA E-Tech Awards program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services in the areas of Consumer, Enterprise and Network Technology. More than 225 applications were submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and technology experts. Products in four categories: hardware, consumer applications, enterprise solutions and network infrastructure, were judged on innovation, functionality, vision, technological importance and implementation.

"The E-Tech awards program continues to grow and showcase innovative products that extend wireless offerings to consumers and enterprises," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA WIRELESS. "On behalf of CTIA, we congratulate Wi-Ex on their award and look forward to their continued innovation in the field of Mobile Accessories."

zBoost zPersonal (zP), the personal zBoost, providing consumers with an affordable solution that captures and amplifies the 800MHz signal or the 1900MHz bands for improved cell phone signal at home, the office or on the go. The product is the first repeater-amplifier system for consumers for under $100. Showcased at CTIA Wireless 2007 in booth 5483, zBoost zP creates a cell zone for a single user by improving signal strength for better voice and data transmission. Retailing for $99, the zBoost zP represents the lowest priced entry unit in the zBoost product family.

"It is an honor to have our product recognized by CTIA WIRELESS through its E-Tech awards program," said Lloyd R. Meese, President and CEO of Wi-Ex. "The industry recognition along with our patent-pending technology and low price point validate the wow factor of this product. The introduction of the zBoost zP at this price point provides consumers with the first truly personal cell phone signal booster option in the marketplace."

According to the zBoost Cell Phone Signal Survey recently commissioned by Wi-Ex and conducted by Harris Interactive®, 69% of cell phone owners have experienced service problems such as dropped calls (46%), poor signal reception (39%) or dead zones (33%). The zBoost zP repeats and amplifies a cell phone signal from outside the building to a consumer's phone and is ideal for dorms, hotel rooms, condos or apartments all while maintaining the integrity of the carrier's network. Like all Wi-Ex products, the zBoost zP uses patent-pending technology to protect the carrier network. In addition, it supports voice calls or data services and works with all phones and carriers except Nextel.

The package includes everything consumers need to improve their cell phone signal including a small window mount base unit and indoor antenna. The unit is designed to sit or hang in the window and a simple indoor antenna is cabled up to 20 feet across the room. The device comes in two flavors -- wired and wireless. The wireless antenna sits on your desk, the wired version must be connected to your phone. The zBoost zP is easy to set-up and provides "take-with-you" convenience with a small footprint.
