SoulOfAmerica.com, the premiere travel website for African Americans, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. The site provides the most comprehensive online resource for travel destinations that embrace the Black experience in the United States.
Torrance, CA (PRWEB) March 29, 2007 -- SoulOfAmerica.com is announcing its 10th year anniversary online, making it the oldest website devoted to African-American travel. Launched in late March ten years ago, SoulOfAmerica.com provides the most comprehensive resource for travelers seeking black history and culture in America and select destinations abroad.
"Before SoulOfAmerica.com, most travelers who wanted fast and easy access to reliable information about black travel destinations were out of luck," said Publisher Thomas Dorsey. "With SoulOfAmerica.com, more than 9,100 pages of exclusive travel content and photographs are right at their fingertips. We provide unique online content for African Americans, which comprise one of the fastest growing segments in the travel industry."
Maria Dowd, pioneering African-American women's event planner and now author of inspirational books, describes SoulOfAmerica.com as, "Very comprehensive." Familiar with the website for nearly a decade, Dowd adds, "I use SoulOfAmerica.com to discover tours, sites and events nationwide that have a Black cultural flavor to them."
Through exclusive editorial content and extensive photos, SoulOfAmerica.com showcases the restaurants, spas, art galleries, music venues, events, family attractions, and landmarks that are steeped in African American culture. The site is comprised of various channels categories including U.S. Cities, Beaches & Resorts, Soulful Events, Black Innkeepers, Black Cruises, and Heritage Tours, among many others.
The precursor to SoulOfAmerica.com was a print publishing operation that Dorsey started in 1994. The company published cultural guide maps, including "Soul Of Los Angeles" and "Soul Of Atlanta," showcasing black travel destinations. At best, he could reach 10,000 people with the maps. But knowing that the Internet reach was limitless, Dorsey moved his business to the Internet in 1997; later re-naming it "SoulOfAmerica.com and now reaching 2 million annual visitors.
Award-winning SoulOfAmerica.com is the first, only, most comprehensive, most quoted, and highest-traffic Black Travel website. In a poll of 100,000 voters, BlackWebAwards.com named SoulfOfAmerica.com the "2007 Best Travel Destination Website."
