Best Radio Web Site Trends Detailed in New Report from the Web Marketing Association

New Web Marketing Association' Internet Standards Assessment Report includes historical data derived from a decade of hosting Internet award competition, WebAwards, and provides best practices for radio web design.

The Web Marketing Association, host of leading web site awards competition WebAwards, released the Internet Standards Assessment Report (ISAR) to help the radio industry learn to create more effective and engaging web sites.

"As the standard of excellence for web sites continues to increase, consumers (and WebAward judges) are increasingly picky about what they consider to be an effective web site," said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association, Inc. "With their strong 2006 performance, Radio Web sites have risen from the bottom of the pack, in overall average ISAR scores in the past, to the top half of all the industries tracked by the ISAR Index."

The WebAwards competition judges Radio web sites on seven criteria that combined create award-winning web sites:

  •     Design
  •     Innovation
  •     Content
  •     Technology
  •     Interactivity
  •     Copywriting
  •     Ease of use

2006 was the first year radio web sites have outperformed the overall ISAR index for the past six years. They had the seventh highest score rating in the design criteria across all industries,

Radio web sites actually compare very closely to the overall criteria standards; however, they rarely exceed the standards by the online community.

According to the ISAR study, content, interactivity, and design are Radio web site's strong points. They tend to have the lowest scores for copywriting and ease of use.

The 2006 WebAward for Best Radio Web site went to BubbleUp Ltd. for Radio Margaritaville.
