GeoExpress Adopts PDF3D for Geophysical Collaborative Reporting

PDF3D technology is adopted by Oxford Visual Geosciences to publish 3D PDF geophysical reports.

Visual Technology Services’ PDF3D™ technology enables Oxford Visual Geosciences, a leader in earth science data analysis, to open 3D PDF publishing pathways in its acclaimed GeoExpress™ software, harnessing the free Adobe® PDF Reader and Adobe Acrobat®. Integrating the PDF3D SDK toolkit enables direct report generation containing 3D PDF interactive geophysical models.

PDF3D™ technology enables the publication of documents containing interactive 3D graphics, harnessing the free Adobe® PDF Reader and U3D standard. Users can change viewing angles, scale factors and select visibility on model parts. With integration into GeoExpress, 3D PDF publishing paths are established for Geologic and Geophysical data, originating in Gocad™, Geosoft™ (OASIS, Compressed GRD, Voxel), DXF™, GeoTIFF, JPEG2000, EarthVision™, SEGY, ERmapper™, Vulcan™, Datamine™, UBC, Surfer™, 2D/3D EM, 3D SEGY, HDF5, NetCDF and other geophysical exploration formats. As Oxford Visual Geosciences already uses Adobe® Acrobat® to author technical reports, the addition of 3D content into those reports is a beneficial enhancement.

Through the PDF3D™ OEM/ISV program, applications like GeoExpress with 3D data can be extended to publish, share and distribute interactive PDF models through email or the web. Application developers can now add "Save As 3D PDF" menus using the PDF3D SDK, avoiding other intermediary file formats or external conversion programs.
