BlueWave Computing, a computer and network management company that helps small and medium-sized businesses get back control of their technology, announced today the release of Version 1.0 of its Information Technology (IT) Analyst system. This unique system, which is available as part of BlueWave's managed IT service package, allows business managers to identify the issues and individuals that are driving IT costs in an organization thus enabling better control over those costs.

The IT Analyst, designed by BlueWave's CEO and Chief Technologist, Dr. Steven Vicinanza, is part of BlueWave's Total Control (TM) IT management system. The Analyst uses proprietary algorithms to trace IT support issues back to their root causes and then summarize this information for managers in an intuitive point and click reporting format. This allows business line managers to analyze, for the first time, the sources of IT support spending. The system can categorize support costs by base problem and will indicate, for example, if users are experiencing a particular problem in Microsoft Outlook which would allow the organization to provide appropriate training to reduce support costs and improve productivity.

According to Dr. Vicinanza, "the Analyst is a giant step forward in the world of IT management because it assembles data about IT costs which is normally hidden in the black box of the support team, then categorizes, summarizes, and presents it in a language management can understand - not the usual technical jargon. It points out actionable tasks which can greatly reduce costs and provide for a better return on IT spending - which is beneficial to both management and technical staff."

Dr. Vicinanza is a noted information technology expert with over 25 years of IT industry experience. Prior to founding BlueWave Computing, Vicinanza was director of technology planning at EDS, the $20 billion global technology outsourcing company. He has served as an adjunct professor of Computer Science at Georgia Tech. He holds a Ph.D. in Management and Information Systems from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. Vicinanza is frequently quoted by trade and business publications and is a published author of both academic articles as well as a book on computer programming.
