The Departed Not Departed from Boston - New Tour Highlights Filming Locations

Over ten filming locations from The Departed, winner of four Academy Awards® are featured in a revamped Boston Movie Tour. Guests can go behind-the-scenes of this Oscar winner by visiting locations where the movie was filmed.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 3, 2007 -- Boston Movie Tours (http://www.bostonmovietours.net) announces a revamped Movie Tour highlighting over ten filming locations from The Departed, winner of four Academy Awards®.

Movie enthusiasts love being able to associate with the movies and TV shows they love. Ever since Jack Nicholson uttered 'you better get organized' in the trailers, the calls began coming in," says Jeff Coveney, Boston Movie Tours founder. "It also helps that local actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon and writer William Monahan played such major roles."

says Jeff Coveney, Boston Movie Tours founder.
In the movie themed Theater-on-Wheels™, movie buffs can relive the movie experience by going behind-the-scenes of The Departed by visiting an array of locations where the Oscar winner was filmed.

Other movies and TV shows featured on the tour include Good Will Hunting, Mystic River, Fever Pitch, Boston Legal and more. Movie fans can also take the Boston Movie Mile™ walking tour which highlights three new The Departed locations. A sampling of the new locations added to the tours include the:

- Building from the climatic rooftop scene
- One of Jack Nicholson's gangster hangouts
- South Boston neighborhood where the story is based
- Location of the rugby match scene
- Jack Nicholson's mob apartment

Later this summer, Boston Movie Tours will also offer a specialized Mob Movie Tour highlighting Boston crime dramas such as The Departed, Mystic River, Boondock Saints, The Brinks Job and Ben Affleck's upcoming Gone, Baby, Gone.

In addition to visiting locations, Boston Movie Tours plans to periodically bring in celebrity guests and cast members for an up close experience. "The Departed was the experience of a lifetime and I look forward to sharing some of my behind-the-scenes stories with the fans," says Peter Crafts who played one of Jack Nicholson's loyal bar patrons.

With recent tax incentives to Hollywood, the movie location business in Massachusetts is on the rise. "We're not just making films, we're making film history," says Nicholas Paleologos, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Film Office. "In the 40 years since Massachusetts played host to Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway in the original Thomas Crown Affair, over 80 feature films have been shot in Massachusetts earning a total of 60 Academy Award nominations. Now, The Departed becomes the first film shot in Massachusetts to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Forty years. Eighty films. And the best is yet to come!"

Tours begin in April and generally run daily (except Tuesdays) through October. The Theater-on-Wheels tour costs $35 for adults and $25 for children. The Boston Movie Mile walking tour costs $20 for adults and $10 for children. Fans can check out www.bostonmovietours.net or call 866-668-4345 for the latest schedule and departure information.
