ScanControl, Inc. announced today that they would be hosting a special lunchtime presentation session on Wednesday April 4th during the CalGIS Conference in Oakland. The session is being sponsored by and will showcase a portal driven GIS deployment for Jackson Wine Estates that delivers near-real-time decision support data for optimizing vineyard practices.

The web accessible maps presented through each of five regional portals allow vineyard management staff to track equipment, labor, quality and yield variables from season to season. The combination of straightforward field data collection software with a scalable central database solution brings data entry functions to crew foreman and irrigation system operators and allows management staff to view up-to-the-minute yield estimates, harvest progress, spray and nutrient programs and other cultivation practice progress. The portal system provides extended linkage to winery production data to give a complete product traceability picture.

"The use of portals to bring multiple tabular and geographic data sources together under a single consolidated system is proving to be a compelling model in a diverse range of agricultural operations" says ScanControl, Inc President Rob Wood. "We have heard repeatedly from our customers that they have to try and put all the pieces together themselves and now we're able to offer a single point of access to them" he added.
