Arroyo Grande, CA (PRWEB) April 4, 2007
Evelyn Cole is pleased to announce the release of her new comic novel, "Gambling for Good Mail." The story invites readers to take a romp through the contemporary Southern California culture of self-help groups, weird addictions, time-share sales and serial marriages with the main character Felicia Wood, a middle-aged woman obsessed with catalog sales and superficial signs of happiness.
Felicia Wood's southern California condo is filled to the breaking point with all of the knickknacks and household tools she has ordered over the years. After her fourth husband leaves her because of her obsession, Felicia's niece, Caitland, moves in. To accommodate her new roommate Felicia is forced to throw away all of the junk she has accumulated, and must keep her mail addiction under control. Caitland, a biochemist with a Ph.D., is reconstructing her life in a different way, following her suicide attempt a year earlier. Though the two women are different in many ways, they prove to be good influences on each other and through some hilarious trial and error Felicia comes to recognize her emotional void.
Roy K. Johnston, a poet in San Luis Obispo, Calif. writes, "Evelyn Cole's novel, 'Gambling for Good Mail,' sets fiction on its head once more. Her imagination tickles the world of objective reality inviting a re-read and careful study; a refreshing dig for all of us."
Kay Van Horn of Dover, Del. writes, "I roared laughing. What humor! It was by far the best thing I've read this year." And Nixson Borah of Atascadero, Calif. writes, "Wow! You really captured Orange County!"
"Gambling for Good Mail" is now available at Amazon.com.
