World’s Biggest Wireless Automotive Event to Deliver More Networking, Content and Excitement Than Ever Before

Telematics is set to be one of the hottest markets of the next decade, but no single company can rack up the profits on its own. Even more so than other hi-tech industries, achieving success in the wireless automotive business requires strategic partnerships, industry standards and long-term vision. The Telematics Detroit conference and exhibition was created in the year 2000 to satisfy these needs, and has become the one place where top industry executives meet to plan and discuss how to claim their slice of the market – and the profits – of the vehicle telematics pie.

The Telematics Detroit event has increased steadily, both in attendance figures and industry relevance. This year the event returns to the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Michigan on May 22-23rd, and it will be bigger than ever before, with 75 exhibition booths, 35 main conference sessions, 3 co-located one-day conferences, a new online networking website, free exhibition seminars and more.

“Innovation and constant reinvention are the corner stones of sustainable success,” says event director Abbie Badcock. “Each year we invest more in Telematics Detroit because it’s the only way to grow the telematics community and help push the entire market forward. This year is shaping up to be the most successful yet for us - and that can only mean great things for the industry as a whole.”

More networking
The real value of Telematics Detroit is that it offers investors and companies an easy way to make contact with telematics industry leaders during the two-day event. All conference delegates, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors mingle at various cocktail receptions and scheduled breaks throughout the event. In addition, the annual Telematics Awards Dinner, held on the evening of May 22nd this year, will once again be a highlight of the event.

New to this year’s event - all Telematics Detroit attendees will be given three months worth of free online networking via the Telematics Update Online Networking Centre, which will enable all delegates and speakers to communicate directly and securely between April 22 and July 22, 2007.

More people
Telematics Update is opening up the exhibition hall and giving away free exhibition visitor passes to anyone who pre-registers through the event website. This presents an ideal opportunity for new players and investors to get a taste for telematics and see first hand the latest telematics technology.

Telematics Update is also giving away 200 free conference passes to all executives from car manufacturers around the world. Badcock explains this decision: “Obviously car makers are a crucial element of the telematics community, which is why we hold the event in Detroit in the first place. Distributing free tickets to OEMs will ensure that they get the best info and make the best contacts.”

More content
The event itself has built up over the last seven years around the main conference, featuring core telematics topics such as:

  •     Navigation
  •     Infotainment
  •     Safety
  •     Vehicle tracking
  •     Traffic and LBS
  •     Maintenance and diagnostics
  •     Dynamic content
  •     Standards and car maker strategies

This year the agenda will give conference attendees the low down on hot new topics such as: autonomous cars, telematics & insurance, telemetry, home-car sync. The program also presents the most comprehensive speaker line-up of any Telematics Detroit conference to date - featuring more than 70 industry leaders over 35 sessions including ATX, Onstar, BMW, Ford, VW, Visteon, Siemens VDO, Continental and more.

Building on this established base, this year’s event will also include two one-day co-located conferences on Mobile Locations Enabled Services and Intelligent Vehicle Safety. As a free “extra”, two days worth of seminars will run in the exhibition hall.

All in all – more than 60 hours worth of content will be available over the two days.

More excitement
Following a number of announcements at CES in January, the future for in-car technology has never looked so good. Seen by many as the last untapped market between the office and home, the telematics business is set to boom in the next ten years, and Telematics Detroit is the place to be to get a handle on this market.
