Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) April 11, 2007
Full Sail Real World Education has announced the release of its first master's degree offering, a Master of Science in Entertainment Business set to begin in June 2007.
The former Entertainment Business Bachelor of Science Degree will now evolve into a Bachelor of Science in Music Business beginning in April 2007. This will bring Full Sail's current degree offerings to a total of eight and continue to grow its internationally acclaimed programs. The breakdown is as follows: Associate of Science Degree offered in Recording Arts and Show Production & Touring; Bachelor of Science Degree offered in Computer Animation, Digital Arts & Design, Film, Game Development and Music Business; and Master of Science Degree in Entertainment Business.
The Entertainment Business Master's Degree Program can be completed in just 13 months and is open to graduates of Full Sail's bachelor's degree programs and to outside students with bachelor's degrees in related technical or business fields. Now, students from these disciplines of study can continue their education with high-level courses focusing on areas such as: Leadership, Project and Team Management, Brand Development, Finance, Global Business Strategies, Negotiation, Entertainment Law, and more.
"When developing the Entertainment Business Master's Degree, we consulted a collection of respected professionals including our advisory board, our employers, consultants from the entertainment business community and our leading graduates," said Nell Thompson, Director of Education for Media Arts. "The courses are a combination of cutting-edge entertainment business topics and courses that our team felt require extensive study. The innovative curriculum fosters independent and critical thinking skills for today's entertainment business leader."
The 10-month Music Business Bachelor's Program offers students a more focused look at the business side of the modern music industry, offering new and altered courses such as: Artist Development, Music Copyright and Publishing, Producing, and Music Merchandising and Retail Promotions. The degree was designed with the same objectives as the program it replaces - to provide graduates with the specific knowledge and education they'll need to enter the professional entertainment industry, either by joining an existing company or starting their own.
The Music Business Bachelor's Program is open to graduates of any of Full Sail's degree programs, as well as to outside students with a minimum of an associate's or bachelor's degree in related technical or business fields.
"The nuances between the [old and revised] degree programs are slight but important," said Pat Bishop, Program Director for Music Business. "The changes to the program address the specific needs of music business professionals more than ever before, and we are looking forward to continue training the entertainment business leaders of the future."
Full Sail has been consistently recognized as an educational leader in the entertainment media industry being named: one of the top three entertainment media colleges by Shift Magazine; one of the Top Five Game Degree Programs in the world by Electronic Gaming Monthly; one of the "Best Music Programs" in the country by Rolling Stone Magazine; one of the "Best Music Business Departments" in the Schools That Rock: The Rolling Stone College Guide; and one of the Best Film Programs in the country by UNleashed Magazine.
With this success in mind, Full Sail also carefully analyzed the range of positions available in the entertainment market where a Master's Degree is required. Vice President/Director of Career Development, Tammy Gilbert stated, "We know that the industry is vast and holds many layers of positions, titles and pursuits, as evidenced by our alumni and their career paths. The Entertainment Business Master's Degree serves as an excellent path for people who aspire to reach the highest levels of the industry by investing in the future of their career. The exciting part of offering an associate's track, a bachelor's track, and now a master's track is that it offers our students choices to fit their own individual career goals."
