NewspaperARCHIVE.com Partners with Aviation Safety Network

The Aviation Safety Network now features hundreds of historical newspaper articles from NewspaperARCHIVE.com.

Cedar Rapids, IA (PRWEB) April 12, 2007 -- NewspaperARCHIVE.com, the largest newspaper database available online, has partnered with the Aviation Safety Network (ASN) to provide historical information on aircraft incidents, hijackings and accidents. The ASN recently added links to just over 600 newspaper pages found at NewspaperARCHIVE.com.

"With the large number of aircrafts in the sky each day, aviation safety is an important topic," said Jeff Kiley, General Manager of NewspaperARCHIVE.com. "The Aviation Safety Network has an extensive database that contains reliable information on previous aircraft accidents, and our newspaper pages add unique first-hand accounts. Readers can see how the incidents were reported at the time they occurred."

NewspaperARCHIVE.com has provided the ASN with articles on some of history's most devastating aviation-related disasters, such as the September 11th terrorist hijackings or the 1977 collision of two Boeing 747s on a runway in the Canary Islands. Information on other less-known accidents, such as the 1944 crash of an army transport plane during an electrical storm, can also be found. The sample newspaper articles are full-page digital copies of the original newspapers, just like those found in NewspaperARCHIVE.com's full database, which contains more than 62 million historical newspaper pages, dating back to 1759.

The Aviation Safety Network is a private, independent initiative founded in 1996. The aviation database, found online at http://aviation-safety.net contains detailed descriptions of more than 12,500 aircraft incidents, hijackings and accidents. Most of the information contained in the database is obtained from official sources, such as authorities or safety boards.
