Mednet System Triples Their Quarterly Number of e-Prescription Transmissions Submitted and Received From Pharmacies

Mednet System providing improved patient safety by encouraging their providers to use e Prescribing over paper scripts.

Webster, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2007 -- Mednet System, a leading provider of Electronic Medical Records and Professional Medical Billing Services, announced today the staggering increase in their quarterly e-Prescribing volume in comparison to the previous year.

According to Niraj Jetly, CEO, Mednet System, "I am excited to announce that we have tripled our quarterly e-Prescribing transaction volume compared to last year, and in the last quarter alone we noted a 30% increase on almost all aspects of e-Prescribing. This was made possible by the relentless efforts of our staff in encouraging physicians and their clinical staff to use e-prescribing, and by introducing several shortcuts with the application that makes the process faster and safer."

According to SureScripts "1.5 million Americans are injured by medication errors annually." e-Prescribing prevents these errors with features that automatically flag for patient/drug allergies and drug/drug compatibility. e-Prescribing eliminates duplicate
prescriptions and pharmacy confusion as a result of handwriting that is hard to read or miswritten.

"Because Mednet System is a SureScripts Certified Provider, with built-in features to track allergies, we encourage our providers to use e-Prescribing to its fullest capacity. These increased quarterly figures indicate that we are succeeding." said Niraj Jetly.

Several of Mednet's clients are noting the many benefits e-Prescribing has to offer them in comparison with paper prescriptions.

According to Dr. Krzysztof Kacprzak, Internist, "e-Prescribing saves time and effort. It eliminates confusion with Pharmacy/refill requests. Patient drug allergies and alerts automatically appear when reviewing refill requests, eliminating the need to search for the info and allowing minimum room for errors."

Dr. Crow, of Crow Family Medicine in Duncan, Oklahoma feels "e- Prescribing is so much more convenient and efficient for everyone involved. Prescriptions can be entered and sent to the pharmacy of the patients' choice with a few clicks of the mouse before the patient leaves the office. The system automatically pulls up all patient drug allergies and alerts, along with all past and current prescription information. This eliminates drug compatibility errors. Pharmacy errors due to misread handwriting are also a thing of the past with e-Prescribing."

Along with increasing levels of patient safety, e-Prescribing also increases patient satisfaction and decreases the amount of staff time previously spent on all of the follow up and chores associated with paper scripts.

Jean Crow, Office Manager for Crow Family Medicine, had this to say: "e-Prescribing saves me a lot of time in the office that was formerly spent on paper prescriptions and refill requests. With e-Prescribing, refill requests are handled much more quickly which lowers the volume of repeated patient prescription calls to the office. e-Prescribing also provides a valuable service to the patient as well as the doctor and staff. Patients prescriptions can be sent to their pharmacies while they are still in the office, which allows more time for the pharmacy to fill the prescription before the patient arrives at the pharmacy. In most cases, the patients prescriptions are waiting for them when they get to the pharmacy, which makes everyone more satisfied."

"We couldn't be more pleased with our clients advancements in their e-Prescribing endeavors using emr4MD Version 4.0. We are confident we will continue to see increases in new/refilled e-prescriptions within the next few months as well. This proves our ability to offer our clients an affordable and reliable web based e-Prescribing Application that ensures them a heightened level of patient safety, with an increased level of patient and staff satisfaction," said Niraj Jetly, CEO, Mednet System.
