Drexel University Online, a pioneer in Internet-based education programs, announces the launch of the online Certificate in Complementary and Integrative Therapies (CIT). The "evidence-based" program will allow healthcare professionals to integrate complementary therapies into their professional practice.

The online Certificate in Complementary and Integrative Therapies will provide students with knowledge and skills that will allow them to assess, guide and evaluate patient use and to integrate CIT into their professional practice. The curriculum will address the cultural and theoretical basis for applying complementary and integrative therapies while focusing on the skills and techniques of specific therapies.

In a recent national survey, 42 percent of people in the United States reported that they have used at least one complementary or integrative therapy. "With over 85 million American adults using complementary and integrative therapies, it is clearly evident that a paradigm shift is taking place in how people view their health," said Stephanie Ross, clinical assistant professor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions' CIT program.

The certificate program consists of four required courses. Students will have the opportunity to focus on their area of interest within CIT in the fourth elective course. Options include areas such as integration of CIT into practice, women's integrative health and foundations in clinical aromatherapy.

Applications for Drexel's online Certificate in Complementary and Integrative Therapies are now being accepted. For more information about this online program, visit Drexel's online degree website, e-mail or call (877) 215-0009.
