Secrets, Deception and Sex Create a Volatile Mix in Emotional Novel
Miranda Ifedigbo's debut novel, "Sexual Transgressions: A Chain of Events," explores the devastating consequences that occur when a deeply personal secret is suddenly revealed.
Crescent, PA (PRWEB) April 16, 2007 -- Most people have a few skeletons in their closet; things they prefer to keep safely hidden away from even their closest family and friends. Not everyone, however, has a skeleton so big and monstrous that it would turn his or her world upside down if brought out into the open.
Isaiah Owens, a beloved pastor, father and husband from a prominent African-American family has such a secret. That secret is the core of Miranda Ifedigbo's debut novel, "Sexual Transgressions: A Chain of Events" (ISBN 978-1425956264, AuthorHouse, 2006).
When an unexpected event causes Owens' secret to be revealed, his family is forced to cope with the crisis resulting from his deception. "Sexual Transgressions" is the story of human frailty and disillusion; a salient reminder that even those held in the highest regard are far from perfect, and perfectly capable of falling below our expectations.
The problems arising from sexual missteps are prevalent in today's world. Whether it's a leader in government, in the church, or in one's own family, sexual transgressions have become a significant societal issue. Many would say that sexual indiscretions are the ultimate betrayal because of the damage they cause.
"We sometimes put people on a pedestal and forget that they are human with human failings just as we are. And then when the person falls from grace, we want to turn our backs on them, stone them and disown them," Ifedigbo says. "I think we all have to realize that God forgave us, so we sometimes have to act in that same spirit of forgiveness and mercy towards those who have hurt or betrayed us."
Throughout "Sexual Transgressions" music is woven into the story, with song lyrics surfacing among the pages. The two featured songs, "I Care For You" and "Overcomer," are originals from Ifedigbo. Her talent as a writer extends beyond novels and into the musical realm, where she is also an accomplished vocalist. A CD featuring "I Care For You" and "Overcomer" accompanies the novel.
Miranda Ifedigbo currently resides in Crescent, Pennsylvania with her husband and three sons. She attended Geneva College for two and a half years, but holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from Slippery Rock University.
