New Book, Conferences Provide Expert Advice for Moms and Daughters
Susie Shellenberger and Kathy Gowler, known to teen girls from their work in the popular"Brio" magazine, release "Here for You: Creating a Mother-Daughter Bond That Lasts a Lifetime" as the signature book in their nationwide Closer: Moms and Daughters Conference Tour.
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) April 24, 2007 -- For years teen expert Susie Shellenberger has written advice to teen girls as editor of the popular "Brio" magazine. And she has seen a growing trend: the need for stronger, closer mother-daughter relationships.
In response to this trend, Shellenberger and coauthor Kathy Gowler have written "Here For You: Creating a Mother-Daughter Bond That Lasts a Lifetime" (May 2007) as the signature book in their nationwide Closer: Moms and Daughters Conference tour.
As Shellenberger and Gowler navigate readers--both moms and daughters--through the differing stages of this complex relationship, they emphasize the power and importance of a covenant with each other. About the Authors:
Susie Shellenberger created Focus on the Family's "Brio" magazine for teen girls in 1990 and continues to serve as editor. Before starting "Brio," Susie was a youth pastor and a high school teacher. She has written forty-one books, is in demand as an international speaker for women's groups and teens, and started the Brio Mother/Daughter Cruise for Focus on the Family. Susie lives in Colorado Springs, and in her spare time enjoys walking her 150-pound St. Bernard and sometimes eating cereal for dinner.
Kathy Gowler is editorial assistant and event coordinator for Focus on the Family's "Brio" and "Brio and Beyond" magazines for teen girls. She has been a contributing writer to both magazines and also a contributing author to "Bloom: A Girl's Guide to Growing Up." Kathy has counseled hundreds of teen girls in person and by answering their e-mail questions sent to "Brio." Kathy and her husband, Jeff, are the parents of two adult children and live near Colorado Springs.
