Charter School Offer Parents a Choice in Education

Arizona Charter Academy Grows Along Side Communities of El Mirage and Surprise.

Surprise, AZ (PRWEB) April 18, 2007 -- Parents have a choice. In a culture that values options, freedom and individuality, the district boundaries of the public school system are often restrictive to families looking for options. Although parochial and private education can be an excellent alternative, the cost is often beyond reach.

On the border of El Mirage and Surprise lies an option that does not compromise academic excellence, individualized instruction, or the checkbook.

Arizona Charter Academy, a K-12 campus, is located just south of Bell on Dysart Road in Surprise. Poised to increase by 20% for the 2007-2008 school year, ACA is accommodating increasing growth through a building project that will benefit the families of El Mirage and Surprise.

Slotted for two phases, Phase I will begin June 1st. The project will create self-contained, enclosed classrooms for grades Kindergarten -8th, which should enhance the learning process and help create a more formal learning environment. "Each room will have its own overhead projector, TV, and VCR," said Melissa Holdaway, Chief Operations Officer. The enclosed classrooms will be ready by the start of school in 2007.

Phase II features additional high school classrooms that will provide more elective classes for students. This includes the build out of the 12,000 square foot office located directly behind the current high school building. Future projects include the transformation of the vacant lot directly north of the high school building becoming the administrative building to include offices and a parking lot. Perhaps the most impact to the community at large will be the new state of the art gymnasium that will include a stage and should be ready by September, 2008. The gym will allow the school and community to hold all parent/child functions, sporting events, and future school musicals /plays.

"I'm really excited about ACA's future," replied Mrs. Holdaway. "There are so many possibilities and doors that have opened for us. Although our current growth is phenomenal, our future is unlimited. We are dedicated to making an impact on children's lives as well as the ever-expanding communities of El Mirage and Surprise."

Charter schools are public schools that are open to all students, regardless of income, gender, race, or religion. Since they are schools of choice that are highly responsive to the needs of students and communities, charter schools are extremely appealing to families from all backgrounds, particularly those dissatisfied with their neighborhood public school.
