Footwear Plus Launches Going Greener

The footwear industry's first magazine solely dedicated to sustainable practices and products.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 18, 2007 -- Footwear Plus, the leading business-to-business magazine covering the footwear industry, has launched Going Greener, a supplement to its April/May issue. Showcasing some of the hottest eco-friendly shoe styles hitting stores this fall and profiling how retailers are embracing "green" store designs and merchandise, Going Greener (printed on recycled paper) is a comprehensive approach to making sustainable products and practices accessible to footwear retailers nationwide.

"Footwear Plus has taken the lead in showcasing the industry's sustainability efforts. A beautiful, glossy magazine complete with in-depth coverage and edgy fashion layouts, Going Greener has raised the bar with respect to this fast-growing publishing category," stated publisher Stephen Schwartz. "Green never looked so good."

"Going Greener delivers on what millions of consumers increasingly desire: great product from corporations (wholesale and retail) that are legitimately trying to clean up their act," stated Greg Dutter, Editorial Director of Footwear Plus. "Green is indeed the new black, and our industry has made its initial steps into what has quickly become a macro movement."

Going Greener advertisers (Dansko, Simple, Teva, Terra Plana, Terrasoles, J-41 and Naot) also had their shoes featured in the Footwear Plus sponsored table during New York's EarthFair 2007 held April 14-15 in Grand Central Station. Thousands of people perused the eco-friendly styles on display and learned more about what these companies are doing in their efforts to become cleaner corporate citizens.

Going Greener will be an annual supplement to Footwear Plus' April/May issue. A new section in the magazine devoted to the industry's progress in sustainable practices and product will also run through the course of the year. In addition, a category recognizing the best in sustainable design will be included on the magazine's Plus Awards ballot for 2007. The 9th annual Plus Awards recognize the best in design in more than 20 distinguished categories as voted on by thousands of footwear retailers nationwide.
