Steve started Spur Digital, Houston's leading full-service interactive marketing agency, in 2002 to address an unmet need in the market. With a mission of helping companies utilize the Web to grow their business, Spur Digital has grown into a 25-person agency that serves as the trusted advisor and implementer of interactive marketing programs for some of Houston's leading companies. Spur plans to double in size over the next 12 months and establish itself as one of the leading interactive agencies in the country.
Before starting Spur Digital in 2002, Steve served in executive roles with PentaSafe Security Technologies and Yellowstone Capital. Steve was also a co-founder of the Houston Technology Center, now one of the largest non-profit business accelerators in the country.
Steve served on the Mayor's Economic Task Force and was a participant in the Center for Houston's Future 2005 Leadership class. Prior to that, Steve chaired the Greater Houston Partnership's Emerging Business Council and served on the GHP's Member Services Advisory Council. Steve is an active member of the Technology Executive Club of Houston and the American Marketing Association. Steve previously served as Vice President of the Harvard Business School Club of Houston and on the editorial board for Technology Houston.
In the Non-Profit arena, Steve stays busy as the founding President and Chairman of the Houston Interactive Marketing Association and on the Board of Directors for the Houston Advertising Federation and the Houston Technology Center. For each organization, Steve advises and assists with implementing strategies to them achieve their goals and serve their members.
In 2006 Steve became involved with Prepared for Life an innovative non-profit organization that teaches life skills, character development and entrepreneurship to middle-school children in the greater Houston area. As a member of the P4L Board of Directors, Steve plays an active role, working closely with its executive team to plan and implement its marketing strategy for Lemonade Day. Steve also serves as a coordinator and adviser to Goodwill Industries and served as a Director of the Taft Middle School outreach program during his two years at Harvard Business School.
Steve enjoys teaching and is a frequent guest lecturer at Rice University, the University of Houston, Texas A&M University and the University of Oklahoma. Steve has also served as a guest speaker for the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Technology Center, Houston Interactive Marketing Association, the Cultural Arts Council, the University of Houston Small Business Development Center and other industry events.
Steve received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BBA from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and is a proud father of two Lab-Shepherd mixes he adopted from the SPCA.
