Demeter's Pantry Brands Debut in Balducci's Stores

(PRWEB) April 19, 2007 -- Balducci's recently brought on board two product lines from Demeter's Pantry, an importer of all natural and organic specialty foods from Greece. This includes their Taste of Crete's Extra Virgin Olive Oil, a Gold Medal winner in the 2006 International Olive Oils of the World Competition. Also an olive oil with a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) recognition by the European Union, a certification that recognizes Taste of Crete's exceptional quality and adherence to traditional methods of production. It is also one of Greece's olive oils with the lowest acidity below 0.3%.
Their Apipharm Honeys comes from various regions of Greece, with distinctive flavors and aromas. The honeys are raw, meaning not boiled or heated, so they retain their naturally occurring enzymes, antioxidants and nutrients. Balducci's is carrying four of these varietals: thyme and wildflower from the Aegean Islands, heather from Sterea Hellas, fir from the mountains of Vitina, Peloponnesus and wildflower from Greek Macedonia.
Join Demeter's Pantry tastings in each Balducci's location for the next few weeks as a way to introduce customers to these unique products. "In our tastings, for many customers it is the first time they have ever tried an olive oil from Greece, such as Taste of Crete and are surprised by how much they like its flavor," states Esther Luongo Psarakis, co-owner of Demeter's Pantry. "Our oil is 100% Koroneki, an olive which is indigenous to Greece and tastes slightly fruity and herbaceous."
