Old Bones and New Skin - Redevelopment of a Community
Instead of buying a brand new home, Northglenn Neighborhood Development Corporation, is showcasing to homebuyers what can be done with the bones of an older home by giving it a facelift.
Northglenn, CO (PRWEB) April 20, 2007 -- After more than 45 years, the first home built in Northglenn, Colorado will be the center of attention for the second time, when a local non-profit organization, Northglenn Neighborhood Development Corporation (NNDC) unveils the newly renovated home.
NNDC is using the first home in the area to showcase what can be done with the bones of an older home. Built in 1959, with only 850 square feet and a purchase price of $11,500, the renovations will bring the home to a total of over 1300 square feet with an additional 700 furnished square feet in the basement. Some of the renovations include: a 450 square foot addition, a one and a half stall garage, new kitchen, energy efficient windows, and more.
Many local contractors and suppliers in the City of Northglenn and neighboring communities pulled together to make the renovations possible. The businesses provided labor, materials and other support to NNDC making this a community project.
NNDC anticipates that the modest increase in the value and size of the property will demonstrate to current homeowners in Northglenn and new buyers what can be accomplished on a limited budget to make an older home feel like new.
NNDC will unveil the home located at 320 East 104th Place (corner of 104th & Grant) on Monday, April 23, 2007 from 3-5 p.m. Following the grand unveiling, Jeff Crase with Keller Williams, will begin showing the home to potential buyers.
