Combination of WebTAS and Semantex™ provides unique solution for analyzing unstructured and semi-structured data.

We are excited about the opportunity to bring together the advanced extraction capabilities of Semantex with the power of WebTAS, and provide the combined solution to the analyst community.

Intelligent Software Solutions (ISS) and Janya jointly announce a technology partnership to provide a combined solution enabling exploitation and analysis of unstructured and semi-structured data sources. The companies are combining the power of their individual solutions, ISS with their Web Enabled Temporal Analysis System (WebTAS) tool suite and Janya with their Semantex™ text analytics platform, to provide a unique ability to transform massive volumes of unstructured sources into actionable information.

WebTAS provides organizations with the capability to share information from disparate data sources and knowledge bases, providing users not only data access, but also a tool to aggregate information so it is more easily organized and analyzed. The WebTAS project environment provides the ability to query and send results to a variety of visualization displays that provide geospatial, temporal and inter-nodal analysis of the relationships between entities, across the breadth of all connected data sources. Additionally, WebTAS integrates a rich collaborative analysis capability to facilitate distributed analysis across various user's cells, sites and organizations, reaching beyond simple chat to enable joint exploration and sharing of objects and entire live displays.

Carl Houghton, ISS Vice President of Strategic Planning observes, "In this world of ever- growing volumes of unstructured data sources, the combination of Semantex and WebTAS provides a powerful capability for our users to quickly integrate and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data seamlessly."

Semantex™ gives users the ability to process a wide variety of unstructured and semi-structured data sources, including open source news, USMTF, HUMINT, web pages and email. Semantex then generates a consolidated set of results that incorporates all the information collected into rich entity profiles, vastly simplifying the analyst's task of correlating large volumes of data. By identifying key entities, relationships and events, Semantex™ uncovers patterns and trends previously hidden and enables discovery of information that would be difficult to find by manual analysis.

"Semantex provides unique text analytics functionality that has been proven in over a decade of government and commercial applications," said Dr. Rohini K. Srihari, CEO of Janya. "We are excited about the opportunity to bring together the advanced extraction capabilities of Semantex with the power of WebTAS, and provide the combined solution to the analyst community."

The initial joint work by the two companies supports Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) research programs. The AFRL Automated Text Exploitation Assistant (ATEA) program explores the integration of Semantex™ extraction products with the WebTAS tool suite to provide the capability to perform rich analysis of extracted textual material. Data that previously required manual search of large volumes of unstructured documents is now filtered for significance and presented to the analyst in the context of other data sources or databases that may be available. This ability to automate hours of tedious textual document searches is an analyst force multiplier by making data more readily available for analysis, actionable for decision makers, and more relevant in relationship to structured data.

The results of the ISS and Janya partnership will be showcased at the DoDIIS World Wide Conference 2007 from April 30th to May 2th 2007 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, IL. Janya will have a demonstration of the combined Semantex™ and WebTAS solution available in Booth 116.
