Fine Art & Artists Gallery to host spring show featuring DC premiere of 'Welcoming the Flowers' the much-anticipated series of John Giorno prints.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 23, 2007 -- If April Showers bring May Flowers, some of the most beautiful buds are blooming in Georgetown. On Saturday, May 12, Fine Art & Artists Gallery will begin a month-long show featuring the new series of prints of flower-inspired poetry by John Giorno, entitled 'Welcoming the Flowers'. This marks the official DC premiere of Giorno's latest work.

'Welcoming the Flowers' will open on Saturday, May 12 at Fine Art & Artists Gallery (2920 M St, NW, Washington DC) with an Open House from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. In keeping with the theme, the Gallery plans to raffle off a number of fresh flower bouquets to their guests on the day of the opening.

In addition to the 18 brightly colored prints, Fine Art & Artists Gallery will also showcase a number of floral works by pop and contemporary artists such as Polly Apfelbaum and Steve Penley. All works are available for purchase, with prices ranging from $500 to $5,000.

Interested parties may RSVP by calling 202-965-0870 or via email at info @ faagallery.com. 'Welcoming the Flowers' will remain the featured exhibit through Thursday, May 31.

John Giorno, born in 1936, is an American poet and performance artist. His work: written, performed, recorded, filmed and presented, has given revolutionary change to the way the world views poetry. He founded the artist collective Giorno Poetry Systems and coined its mass communication experiment Dial-A-Poem. He became prominent as the subject of Andy Warhol's film Sleep. He is also an AIDS activist and fundraiser.

Fine Art & Artists opened its doors in 1990 and quickly built an international reputation as one of the preeminent Pop and Contemporary art galleries in Washington D.C. Owner Brian Benavides and Director Malvika Paddock have spent the last few years on the reinvention of the gallery and its focus. Located in the "bright yellow building" on M Street, Fine Art & Artists features three floors of paintings, photography and sculpture by artists such as Susanna Bluhm, Emily Christenson and Tom Slaughter, as well as works by some of the premier Pop and Contemporary artists including Roy Lichtenstein, Alexander Calder and Claus Oldenburg.

Fine Art & Artists is located at 2920 M Street, NW Washington, DC. For more information on the Gallery, please call 202.965.0780, or visit www.faagallery.com.
