Articulate, the leader in rapid e-learning software, has been awarded a bronze medal in the IMS Global Learning Consortium's (IMS GLC) first world-wide competition of high impact use of technology in learning. The Articulate submission was based on a case study highlighting Jefferson County, Kentucky Public School's use of Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio Pro to create impactful e-learning courses throughout the school district.
The Learning Impact Awards program is unique in that it recognizes learning innovation both in terms of the technology used and the educational organization that has utilized it for high impact, capturing the essential elements of innovation, adoption, and learning. Finalists were selected based on several evaluation factors, including impact on learner achievement, impact on faculty adoption, financial return, impact on access, impact on accountability, and use of interoperability standards. The 25 finalists included 14 entries from outside the United States.
Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), with over 98,000 K-12 students in its 135 schools and 22 learning centers, is one of the largest school districts in the United States. The JCPSeSchool creates and maintains e-learning courses for Jefferson County Public Schools and school districts throughout the United States. Its use of Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio Pro has been well accepted by teachers as a result of its ease of use; by administrators -- because of its affordability; and by students because of the stimulating nature of the courses. For those students that take e-learning courses developed by the JPCSeSEchool, JCPS has observed significant improvements in student performance and retention.
"Our courses and quizzes are created by teachers, not instructional designers," says Pete Raisor, coordinator of the JCPSeSchool. "So the tools we use must be easy for non-technical users to create instructional sound, compelling courses. That's why we standardized on Articulate's authoring tools -- they make it easy for everyone."
JCPS teachers use Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio Pro, which includes Articulate Presenter, allowing them to create Flash-based e-learning courses from PowerPoint, Articulate Quizmaker, used to create Flash-based quizzes and assessments, and Articulate Engage, which empowers the teachers to create stunning Flash-based interactions that add sizzle to the courses.
"We are honored to accept this award and are thrilled with the impact Articulate e-learning tools have made at Jefferson County Public Schools and school districts and higher educational institutions around the world," said Adam Schwartz, President of Articulate.
