Elite private 'laptop' school eliminates use of traditional textbook in favor of's Algebra 1 instructional math program.

The Gulf Stream School, an elite private school in Florida, has adopted's ( interactive Algebra 1 program to be used in place of a traditional textbook.

Founded in 1938, the Gulf Stream School is a private school in Gulf Stream, Florida. As a recognized leader in the 'Anytime, Anywhere, Learning' movement, the school is a leader in the effective use of laptop computers. Starting in 2001, the Gulf Stream School became a user of's math instruction and has since completely replaced the use of a traditional Algebra 1 textbook.

According to Bryan Cook, an Algebra 1 instructor at the Gulf Stream School who pioneered the adoption of, "We are using's Algebra 1 as our primary text. All of our students have laptops ....Using the laptops and has changed my role as a teacher. I have always resisted the lecture mode and this program has allowed me to become more of a guide and resource. I like being able to compare and contrast my presentation of topics with yours."
