The Directors of Team USA Football, today announced, the scheduling of an exhibition game with Eidsvoll 1814s of the Norwegian American Football Foundation to take place May 19, 2007.

The 1814s, whose name is derived from the year the Norwegian Constitution was signed and placed into effect, was founded in 1995 by Kenneth Andersen, Jarle Osthagen and Bard Aune. All three had previous experience playing football but wanted to start a club in their own community. Since then, the 1814s have had great success winning Norwegian National Championships in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2006 the team was runner-up in the European Federation of American Football Cup Championship (EFAF) and was ranked, at the end of the 2006 season, the number 10 team in Europe.

Team USA Football will depart the United States, with a roster of 40 athletes and six coaches, including seven members of the U.S. Military, on May 13 and will conduct practice sessions to prepare from May 15-18. The team will stay in Eidsvoll and will visit the nearby capital of Oslo during the week and enjoy parades and other festivities surrounding Norway's celebration of its Independence Day on May 14. A roster of athletes and coaches will be released near the beginning of May. "We're very excited about the game. We've never been to Norway as a team, but continue to play very strong opponents in Europe. Eidsvoll is a tremendous challenge for us and we're looking forward to the visit to Norway and continuing to promote our great game and international sportsmanship there," says Wyland.

This is the 12th international game played by Team USA Football. The team has traveled to countries all over Europe including Italy, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, France and Great Britain.

Team USA Football was founded in 2002 to promote and support the international development of the sport of American Football. Since that time more than 250 athletes, coaches and staff members have participated in club-level games and tournaments in countries such as Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Great Britain, and Czech Republic.
