Local Publisher Receives “Best of Show” Book Award
‘Turn Eye Appeal Into Buy Appeal’ wins 1st Place “How To” Award and “Best of Show” Recognition
DENVER, CO (PRWEB) April 25, 2007 -- Colorado Independent Publishers Association’s (CIPA) annual book competition, EVVY Awards, recognized noteworthy independent publishers on March 23, 2007. Karen Saunders, owner of MacGraphics Services, received the coveted “Best of Show” as well as First Place in the How To category for her book, “Turn Eye Appeal Into Buy Appeal.”
Saunders is an Aurora resident, who has used her marketing know-how and knack for creating eye-catching graphic designs to produce a unique book that can walk even the novice through the design process. The results are stunning marketing materials with a professional look for a fraction of the cost.
“I am so thrilled to be recognized by CIPA,” said Saunders. “After years of celebrating with my clients for their EVVY award-winning books, I had the opportunity to enter my own book. It was an amazing evening, and I’m grateful to the CIPA community.”
It was a big night for Saunders. Other awards included first place for cover design for “I’m Already Home” by Elaine Grey Dumler. “Turn Eye Appeal Into Buy Appeal” also won first place for book design and second place for cover design. “My Lasting Wishes” by Peggy Lowes added another award for Saunders for second place in book design.
At the conclusion of the event, one title is announced for “Best of Show.” The 100 submitted titles were awarded points for each category, and the title with the most points this year was “Turn Eye Appeal Into Buy Appeal.”
“I was blown away when I heard my name announced,” said Saunders. “A lot of time and hard work and detail went into the making of Eye Appeal, and it feels great to be recognized with such an honor.”
EVVY Award nominees range from novices to national best-selling authors/publishers. The awards feature multiple categories, and received entries internationally. CIPA provides monthly meetings to educate, encourage and support independent publishers. The goal of the association is to increase the resources and knowledge available to independent publishers.
MacGraphics Services was founded by Saunders in 1990 and is a leading designer of marketing materials such as ads, logos, one-sheets, audio and video packaging, and book covers and interiors.
