Peter Quintas, SVP of surveillance solutions at InterAct Public Safety Systems, will be conducting two presentations at the Gulf Coast Regional Conference in Nashville, TN.

InterAct Public Safety Systems, a leading provider of safety and security software used by the private sector as well as local, state, national, and international government agencies, senior vice president of surveillance solutions, Peter Quintas, will be giving two presentations, Protecting the PSAP and Liberating Private Video for Public Safety at the Gulf Coast Regional Conference in Nashville, TN May 14-16, 2007 booth # 209.

9-1-1 call takers and dispatchers spend their days protecting the members in their communities -- saving lives is a commonplace activity within the walls of a public safety answering point (PSAP). The need to protect these every-day heroes is critical to ensuring public safety. In the Protecting the PSAP session, Mr. Quintas will discuss available technology that can increase the security of these facilities and the employees in them to keep 9-1-1 service running.

Liberating Private Video for Public Safety discusses how it is very common for public law enforcement agencies to request video from private surveillance cameras that have captured images of crimes and other emergencies. However, this is usually a very reactive measure taken long after a crime occurs, simply because it can be so difficult to acquire such video. Conversely, private cameras have the potential to be very useful to public safety agencies in response to emergencies, but require the "liberation" of private video surveillance feed in real-time for 9-1-1 dispatcher and first responder use. There are some efforts in some cities to standardize such "liberation," but widespread use of private video for public safety is still a long way off, and can only be achieved in a mass, cost effective manner using federal technology standards.

Both presentations take place Tuesday May 15. Protecting the PSAP will be from 1-2 P.M. in room 103 and 104. Liberating Private Video for Public Safety will be from 3:30-4:30 P.M. in room 109.
