Chris Aguilar's poetry collection 'Mayhem: Collected Poetry Through 2005' has been named one the finalists in the poetry category of the Indie Excellence 2007 Book Awards competition. Jeff Bowen, President and Publisher of PubInsider.com, said this year's contest yielded over 700 entries which were then narrowed down to 250 winners and finalists. Bowen says of the awards, now in their second year, "The 2007 results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the United States and a healthy dose of newcomers to watch!"
Chris Aguilar's poetry has appeared in numerous magazines and print journals across the country and internationally. His poetry collection Mayhem: Collected Poetry Through 2005 is his first full length poetry collection and his first entry into an awards competition. "Just being selected as one of the finalists in this competition is a high honor. I never imagined that my 'freshman' title would be selected out of hundreds of entries and be placed with such a talented group of writers. This really is a special day for me", said Chris Aguilar.
'Mayhem: Collected Poetry Through 2005' was edited over the course of three years and contains over 100 pages of poetry spanning 10 years of writing. The book contains photos and commentary on each poem by the author. Chris Aguilar's poetry has been called "Powerful Stuff" by one editor, and Chris was called "A writer that writes from within..Honest" by a fellow poet and publisher.
