Mascot Announces Partnership With Canine Companions

Dogwear company collaborates with assistance dog non-profit to raise awareness and funds.

Cohasset, MA (PRWEB) May 2, 2007 -- Mascot, a dogwear company based in the Boston area, today announced a partnership with Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), a national non-profit organization that enhances the lives of children and adults with disabilities by providing highly-trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality relationships. As terms of the partnership, Mascot will donate a percentage of the proceeds from select products in their line of dog collars, leads, apparel and charms to CCI.

Recognizing the powerful, positive impact that animals have, CCI provides assistance dogs to people with disabilities who can demonstrate that a Canine Companion will enhance their independence or quality of life. After lengthy training, CCI introduces these mascots to the individuals that will become their partners. Together, they experience a training program called Team Training that ends with a graduation ceremony, marking the beginning of a long-term relationship between person and dog, as well as with CCI. Graduates remain in touch through regular follow-up programs, workshops and reunions.

"We've trained over 2500 teams since inception in 1975, so we've really seen the dramatic difference that our Canine Companions can make in people's lives," said Pat Callahan, CCI's national director of development. "It is through the support of companies such as Mascot that we are able to continue providing trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities."

Mascot's unique, colorful line of dog collars, leads, charms and apparel are made with exceptional attention to quality and detail. Whether your mascot enjoys bounding down the beach or dreams to be a diva, Mascot has something for even the most discerning of dogs. In honor of the blue and yellow CCI logo, Mascot will donate a portion of the proceeds from its Blue Sailors Knot Dog Collar and Lead and its Blue and Yellow Repp Stripe Dog Collar and Lead. A jointly marketed product is currently in development and will be released in Summer 2007.

"Mascot was founded to celebrate how our personal mascots delight and inspire us on a daily basis. We feel that Canine Companions' mission echoes our philosophy, so the partnership was a natural fit," said Jeff Alexander, Founder & Creative Director of Mascot. "We are honored to be working with such a wonderful organization, and we look forward to a long-lasting relationship."
