YourTeacher.com Presents its Online Math Instruction Solution to The National Mathematics Advisory Panel

Panel chaired by Dr. Larry Faulkner to provide recommendations to improve mathematics education to President Bush in 2008.

Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) May 4, 2007 -- YourTeacher.com (www.YourTeacher.com) has presented its online math instruction solution to the National Mathematics Advisory Panel at a meeting in Chapel Hill, NC. The panel is to make recommendations to President Bush in 2008 on how to improve mathematics education and address the math teacher shortage in the United States.

As a recognized leader in online math instruction, YourTeacher.com provides instructor-led lessons covering Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. According to Mike Maggart, the educator who created the teaching interface and presented to the panel, "The concept was simple - instead of writing a textbook for the printed page, I wrote a textbook for the computer, and this allowed me to put a teacher inside of the book. In other words, every example problem in every lesson in the book, instead of being written out, is a video of a teacher at a whiteboard presenting the problem, available at the click of a button. Every assignment, instead of a long list of problems with no instruction, is a series of problems that have buttons for a hint, the answer, and an animated audio explanation. Of course, there are many other features to the program, but the heart and soul of the concept is simply to give students access to their own highly qualified math teacher on-demand."

According to Charles Hermes, CEO of YourTeacher.com, "We are extremely excited to offer our math instruction as a potential part of the National Mathematics Advisory Panel's recommendations to President Bush. Because of the difficulty schools are having around the country in finding and retaining qualified math teachers, we think our online instruction can play a significant role in helping students pass accountability tests. Of course, we all agree that it would be best to have a qualified teacher in every classroom, but unfortunately, that's not the case today. Our online instruction puts that goal within reach for every school in the U.S."
