JW Marriott Hotel Dubai Chefs Publish Innovative Cookbook, "Dubai - New Arabian Cuisine"

Innovative "haute" Arabian cuisine fuses Middle East ingredients with elements of European cooking traditions.

Dubai, UAE (PRWEB) May 3, 2007 -- In the award winning new cookbook Dubai - New Arabian Cuisine, four chefs from the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai have created an innovative gastronomic genre -- also known as 'haute' Arabian cuisine -- that bridges the culinary arts of Arabia and Europe to produce a cuisine rich in flavour and heritage but with global appeal.

The book launched to rave reviews at the 2006 Frankfurt Book Fair, and in April, it was designated "Best Foreign Cookbook in the World," at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards held in Beijing, China. Now in its second printing in Europe, the cookbook launches this month in the United Kingdom and has distribution in the United States through New York-based Kitchen Arts & Letters.

Dubai - New Arabian Cuisine includes more than 120 culinary creations, beautifully photographed by Lutz Jaekel. The recipes are the creations of the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai Chefs Ingo Maass (Germany), Christian Jean (France), Amgad Zaki (Egypt) and Khalil Zakhem (Syria), based on a subtle fusion of alluring ingredients from the Middle East with elements of European cooking traditions.

"This cuisine provides the perfect opportunity for those who have been previously hesitant to try Middle Eastern food," said Maass, who co-authored the book with Jaekel. "Our presentation is unexpected and refreshing - our guests often don't even realize they are eating a dish that is rooted in Arabia but infused with European flair."

A labour of love for almost two years, the chefs met with photographer and author Lutz Jäkel to craft the collection of recipes and photographs. The book was published in both English and German at a retail price of €48 / AED195 including tax. Major retailers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Dubai sell Dubai - New Arabian Cuisine with online bookings available via Amazon.de and Libri.de. Future distribution plans are focused in the United States and via Amazon.com. In the meantime, in the United States, consumers may order the book through New York-based Kitchen Arts & Letters (kitchenartsandletters.com or 212-876-5550).

Recognizing the innovation behind the cuisine, late last year Lufthansa immediately implemented several recipes into its 'Star Chef Campaign' for the airline's First and Business Class flights on all European outbound flights to the Middle East. Recipes included Moroccan-style Carrot Soup with Honey and Ras el Hanout Spices served with Confit of Squab or Saddle of Lamb in Coffee Bean Crust.

Recipes found in the Dubai - New Arabian Cuisine cookbook can be also be sampled throughout the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai's catering events and services. The hotel offers a specialized menu based solely on Dubai - New Arabian Cuisine for major functions such as cocktail receptions, conferences and exhibitions, buffets, outside catering in concerts, at home or the office in Dubai.
